BrittanyKnows Career: Remember One’s Name & You Own Them

Such a beautiful flower that sprouted finally this morning and Getting There is helping my mental seeds do the same.

I am really enjoying this book so far. I actually heard about it while reading The Wall Street Journal on my phone and traveled miles in hopes of receiving a hard copy, but nothing was available. I bought the audio book instead while I wait for the hard copy to come in the mail.

The quotes I am capturing are quite inspiring and helpful so you will see a few of them.

Remembering peoples name is an instrumental knack to have and even taking the time to pronounce their names in a multi-cultural workforce.

Remembering one’s name shows that you care and value that individual. Many people don’t do this so if you do so you quickly become more implanted in leaders and colleague’s minds. I knew one guy had respect for me simply because I was the only one who bothered to take the time to pronounce and address his name correctly each time we had meetings.

Anymore you don’t see as much effort from people to really be personable with others and after all you need that in order to build relationships and allies. Not to mention this is what makes you stand out from the rest of the pack and we all spend our career trying to do so.

I bring this up because one of the subjects in the book mentioned how crucial it is and it relates to me because I always try to implement that very same notion. I recommend other do the same.
